During the third quarter of 2024, the top five navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in Latin America showcased varied trends in downloads and active user engagement, according to data from Sensor Tower.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained strong weekly download figures, peaking at approximately 395K in late July. However, there was a gradual decline towards the end of September, with downloads dipping to around 289K. Despite this, the app consistently engaged over 5M weekly active users, with a high of 5.6M in early September.
Google Earth saw weekly downloads fluctuate, starting at 106K in early July and closing the quarter with roughly 99K. The app sustained a steady base of active users, hovering around 770K throughout the quarter.
Offline Maps, GPS, Speedometer experienced a notable increase in downloads towards the end of the quarter, jumping from 37K in early July to over 102K by late September. Active users also rose significantly, reaching 124K by the end of September.
Radar - Speed Camera Detector had its weekly downloads peak at 70K in mid-July before stabilizing around the 30K mark in September. The app's active user numbers exhibited a similar pattern, peaking at 55K mid-quarter and maintaining a stable presence around 53K by the end of the quarter. Revenue, although modest, peaked at $425 in early July before tapering off.
Live Earth Map & GPS Map showed a significant boost in downloads in August, reaching over 62K, and maintained consistent numbers through September. Active user engagement also increased, with figures rising from 126K in early July to approximately 157K by the end of September.
